Went to graduation at the Wells Fargo Arena. The view of the bridge on the Riverwalk on the Des Moines River and dam lit up at night was awesome. So was the state capitol in the background. Felt very safe there. Biaggii's Italian Restaurant was superb. Our waiter Alan was very efficient and had a great memory for our size table. The Lobster Bisque, chocolate cake, mini sundaes, bread... everything. Just try it.

This hotel is unfortunately one I would never use again....
My friends and I had planned a trip to see basketball we live in the UK. I made a mistake and put in the wrong Arena on Booking.com and this hotel came up. I booked two rooms and when we put in the zip code it was 1,000 miles away!!! I contacted booking.com literally 3 minutes after booking who contacted the hotel on my behalf and they refused to answer me or booking.com. I lost £270.00. Moral of the story they were in their rights to take the money but the fact they ignored both me and booking.com says a lot about the company greed. Enjoy spending my money..

I lived in Des Moines for 32 years and always enjoy our summer returns for the season of the Des Moines Metro Opera. Farmers Market, Court Avenue, the East Village, the Art Center, the Botanical Garden, all are worth a visit.

Des Moines is a very nice city, downtown is nice especially the skywalks. Our visit to the capitol grounds for the Des Moines symphony Yankee Doodle Pops event was awesome. We lived there a little over 30 years ago and still have friends that we visit from time to time. We always enjoy our visits.

Hotel was an easy walk to Civic Center and restaurants. Lots of restaurants nearby to choose from. Went to Court Street Brew Pub - casual and great for a variety of beers. Splash is a nice seafood restaurant - quiet and low key.
Parking is pricey whether in the ramp or on the street.
Cute shops downtown - nice change from mall shopping. Locally owned! Cooking store, spices, oil and vinegar shop, gift shops.
Hotel is historic and recently renovated - nicely done. Room was comfortable and quiet. Staff was pleasant and friendly.

Des Moines is a thriving metropolitan city with plenty of events and entertainment value. From exciting sporting events to an entertaining amusement park with a fabulous waterpark (better than Oceans of Fun in Kansas City). Exciting nightlife with alot of clubs with live entertainment. Golf Courses, Extreme skating park and many nice parks. If your a bicycler, their trail system is 2nd to none for riding enjoyment. Clean and friendly people. A nice place to visit. If you're lucky enough to be there during the Iowa State Fair, one of the best fairs in the USA!
